Keep your grooming schedule running smoothly — right inside Time To Pet. Book trims, baths, de-sheds, and more as standalone appointments or tack them onto existing visits as add-ons. Every grooming appointment shows up on your calendar and in Front Desk mode, so your team always knows what's coming next.
Note: Grooming Services are available for Facility accounts only.
Creating a Grooming Service
To add a new Grooming service in Time To Pet Facility, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Services & Spaces > Services section of your Admin Dashboard.
Click + New Service.
Select Grooming from the service type options. From here, you will be taken to the Grooming Service setup window:
Grooming Service Settings
When creating your Grooming service, you’ll have the opportunity to configure it in the following ways:
Service Name - Required. This is the name that will appear when you are scheduling services for a client or when clients are submitting service requests through their Client App/Portal
Duration - Required. You can set the service length in hours or minutes
Client Can Request? - Determines whether clients can select the service when making requests through their Client App/Portal
Add-On? - Enable this option to make the Grooming Service available as a Scheduled Add-On (that can be scheduled during daycare days or boarding stays). When enabled, it will appear in the Add-On dropdown when booking client services
Description - Put any pertinent service details here. This is visible to clients when requesting services through their Client App/Portal if the Client Can Request? setting is enabled
Private Notes - Any pertinent service details that you only want to be visible to staff members should go here. Clients will not be able to see this information, but it will be visible to all staff roles
Color - Select how the service appears on the calendar
Auto Reminder - Determines whether or not you would like the system to send out an Automatic Service Reminder to the client about their upcoming scheduled services. For more information on these reminders and how to customize the messaging, see our help documentation here: Facility: Automatic Service Reminders
Grooming Service Rates
Here, you can set different rates related to your Grooming Service:
Cost Per Pet – Charges apply per pet. If multiple pets are scheduled separately, each pet will be billed for the base cost of the service
Taxable – Enable if the service should be taxed
Scheduling Grooming Services
Grooming services can be scheduled in three ways: as a Standalone Service, a Scheduled Add-On, or as a Smart Add-On. We go through the steps for each way in more detail below.
Note: Only one pet can be scheduled per Grooming service.
Scheduling A Standalone Grooming Service
You can schedule a standalone grooming service from the Scheduler by selecting the Schedule Client button in the upper right corner of the page, or from the Quick Actions menu on a client's profile by choosing Schedule Services For Client from the dropdown menu.
When scheduling a grooming service as a client's primary service, you'll fill in the following details:
Date
Start Time
End Time - This is automatically calculated based on the service duration, but can be edited manually
Space
Service
Staff
Client
Pet
Notes
Note: If the selected staff member is not scheduled for a shift during that time or they have a conflict, a warning will appear, though it will not prevent you from scheduling the services.
Scheduling A Grooming Add-On
If your Grooming service is enabled as an add-on service, it will be available to select when scheduling other service types. Add-ons are only available to select after you have filled in the initial event details and have clicked Create Event on the event window. You will then be taken to the Add-Ons tab in the new event window that appears. You'll have the following details to fill in:
Add-On Type - Select from Scheduled Add-On or Smart Add-On
Date
Start Time
End Time - This is automatically calculated based on the service duration, but can be edited manually
Service
Space
Pet
Note: Scheduled Grooming Add-ons display as their own event card on the calendar.
Viewing Grooming Services on the Calendar
Grooming services display the same way on your calendar whether they are standalone services or add-ons. Each event card includes the following:
Event time
Client name
Service name
Assigned staff member
Scheduled add-ons appear as separate event cards for clear visibility:

In Front Desk Mode, standalone Grooming events display:

Drop-In Grooming Services
You can also add Grooming services for walk-in clients using the drop-in workflow.
When creating a drop-in Grooming service, the following details are required:
Client Name

End Time
Assigned Staff Member

Editing Grooming Services At Check-In
When checking in a Grooming appointment:
The Start Time can be edited
Updating it will automatically adjust the End Time based on the service duration
The End Time can be edited
Changing it will not adjust the Start Time
The Space can be updated
The Pet cannot be removed once the service is checked in
Notes can be added at this step
Editing Scheduled Grooming Add-Ons

Adjusting the start time updates the end time automatically
End Time
Adjusting the end time does not change the start time

Once your edits are complete, select Add To Visit to save the changes.
A Note About Grooming Services & Templates
Currently, grooming services cannot be selected as the primary service for Templates in Time To Pet Facility. However, they can be selected as Scheduled Add-Ons within Templates.
How Clients Can Request Grooming Services
Clients can request grooming services as a standalone service or as an add-on to an existing boarding stay or daycare day, depending on how your company configures them. For more information on enabling these options, see the section on Grooming Service Settings above.
Requesting Grooming Services As An Add-On Through The Client Mobile App & Web Portal
Clients can request grooming services through both their Mobile App and their Client Portal from the Scheduling section of their account. Here, they can select the New Request/Request New Service button to begin the service request process. If you use both our In-Home and Facility products, your clients will need to select the Choose Facility option.
After choosing whether they want to schedule services for a single date or multiple dates, your clients will be asked to choose the type of service they want to request: Same Day, Overnight, or Grooming:
They will select either Same Day or Overnight, depending on their needs, and can proceed with selecting the specific services they want to request and the dates and times they will be picking up and dropping off their pets. After filling in these service details, clients will be asked if there are any add-ons they would like to schedule for their services:
Clicking + New Add-On will bring up the complete list of available add-ons that they can select from:
IMPORTANT: Only grooming services that have both the Add On? and Client Can Request settings enabled will appear in the add-on selection list when a client is requesting services.
Once they select their preferred add-on, they will be asked to assign a pet to it. They can only select one pet per add-on.
After inputting the details of the services they want to request, they will be taken to the Review screen, where they can see when the add-on service may be done. For overnight services, the grooming add-on is scheduled on the last day of the stay, while for same day services, the add-on is scheduled for the same day, but no particular time is listed.
Clients can also add more services to their request and review the expected pricing for their services ((if you have enabled this ability in the Client Portal Settings section of your account). Once they are ready, they can select Submit Request to send their service requests to your team:
Here is what requesting grooming services as an add-on service looks like in the Client Mobile App:
Requesting Grooming Services As A Standalone Service Through The Client Mobile App & Web Portal
While clients can request grooming services as an add-on to existing services they're requesting, they can also submit requests where grooming is the primary service through both their Mobile App and their Client Portal from the Scheduling section of their account. Here, they can select the New Request/Request New Service button to begin the service request process. If you use both our In-Home and Facility products, your clients will need to select the Choose Facility option.
After choosing whether they want to schedule services for a single date or multiple dates, your clients will be asked to choose the type of service they want to request: Same Day, Overnight, or Grooming. Unlike when requesting grooming as an add-on service, they will want to choose Grooming at this step to request it as a standalone service:
From there, clients will select the specific grooming service they want for their pets, along with the date and time they want to schedule it for, and any additional notes they have for your team:
Note: Clients cannot currently select add-ons when requesting grooming services as standalone events in the web portal version of Time To Pet, but this functionality will be released in the near future.
After inputting all of the details for their service request, they can click Add & Continue to be taken to the Review screen, where they can add other service requests and confirm their expected pricing for their services (if you have enabled this ability in the Client Portal Settings section of your account). Once they are ready, they can select Submit Request to send their service requests to your team:
Here is what it looks like to request standalone grooming services in the Client Mobile App:
Note: Clients can request add-ons to standalone grooming services when submitting service requests through the Client Mobile App.
